Grega Repovž

Owner
Repovž
Grega is the director and manager of the family-run restaurant Gostilna Repovž, which is located in the small town of Šentjanž in Dolenjska, Slovenia. Grega himself says that he was born to be a host. He is a passionate lover of food and wine, a level 3 sommelier and has completed the international WSET Level III course. In 2019, the international Gault & Millau guide named Grega the best sommelier in the country. His passion is searching for special, lesser-known wines, especially from the surrounding Dolenjska vintners, with whom he works closely in the promotion of Dolenjska wines. Grega views his work – running the family restaurant – as a never-ending project. He has a desire to add and discover something new, time and again, while ensuring he remains true to the tradition and legacy of his ancestors, all the while taking into account concern for high moral standards at all levels of activity. Grega has long taken care of all marketing activities and the external image of the brand, hence one of his latest projects was created: a podcast called Sladko-kisli svet (A Sweet and Sour World), through which he wants to show the wider public the world of catering from other perspectives, which are unimaginable to people outside this industry but at the same time very interesting. Grega is also an active member of the Novo mesto Rotary Club and president of the JRE Slovenia Association. Gostilna Repovž is a restaurant with a tradition dating back more than 100 years. Today, it is one of the most recognisable family restaurants in Slovenia and a proud holder of a green Michelin Star and other awards. In addition to running the restaurant and spending time with his family, Grega’s main hobby is cycling, and, as such, he dedicates his free time to ‘escaping’ to the surrounding hills by bike.
