We discovered a new mix – Croatian gin and Croatian cigars

Davidoff Exclusive Croatia 20/20 cigars were officially presented at the first Weekend Food Festival in Rovinj.

Filip Pleteš, sales director of Old Pilot’s Gin and Alen Kosanović, director of Camelot – Havana Cigar Shop, presented the history and offered interesting facts about cigars, their production and consumption at the masterclass entitled Croatian mixology – Croatian cigars and Croatian gin.

“The most important aspect of the production of cigars is the variety of tobacco itself. We distinguish two essential types: One is in direct contact with the sun, while the other is in the shade. The one that grows in the sun has a more pronounced aroma due to the way the compounds are released,” explained Filip Pleteš.

At the end, the best Old Pilot’s Gin was served to the participants. This mix served to balance the intensity of this particularly blended Toro cigar. Pleteš explained why this particular mix was used and the qualities and advantages of this gin, giving a brief insight into the history and development of gin as we know it today.

“The most interesting fact about this cigar is that only 500 boxes were made, exclusively for the Croatian market. Each box is numbered and represents a collector’s item. Each cigar is carefully manufactured to the highest quality standards—using Nicaraguan Condega Visus tobacco, Dominican San Vicente Mejorado Visus tobacco and Pilot Ligero tobacco. They are characterized by woody notes, with the aroma of roasted coffee, black pepper and a special creamy nutty aftertaste,” said Kosanović.

The goal is to bring this special Croatian cigar of unique taste and quality closer to foreign customers. Davidoff has been present on the Croatian market for 20 years, especially on the gastro scene of the best Croatian restaurants and hotels.
