Participant introduction


After graduating from high school in his hometown of Čakovec, Matija enrolled at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb, where he graduated with an undergraduate degree in Information Sciences. With a passion for the culinary arts, Matija graduated from culinary school and volunteered at the Dubravkin put restaurant in Zagreb. In September 2014, he had a four-month internship under chef Daniel Patterson at the Coi restaurant (2 Michelin stars) in San Francisco. In April 2015, he started working for renowned chef Brett Graham at his restaurant The Ledbury in London. Matija spent four and a half years at The Ledbury (2 Michelin stars) where he worked as a sous chef. He also gained knowledge and experience in top restaurants such as The Jane (2 Michelin stars) in Antwerp and A.T in Paris.
