Maja Fertalić

founder
Nutty
Maja Fertalić is the founder of the Nutty brand and the creator of nutritious and tasty snack bars - Barice. Until 2020, Maja worked for an international company and had already experienced entrepreneurship and many years in the logistics sector. Additionally, she is a professional athlete who spent over 10 years heading the women's softball club Mali princ from Zagreb. In June 2020, Maja was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Multiple Sclerosis, three months after the onset of initial symptoms (MS hug, leg tingling, difficulty walking, constant fatigue…). At the same time the diagnosis was made, the regional branch of the company where she worked closed, leaving her without her long-term job. After the diagnosis, Maja made two decisions—the first was to change her diet and eliminate anything harmful, and the second was to do something less stressful that she would enjoy more. By September 2022, she had made her first bar, so she could always have a healthy snack with her. The story quickly took off, and within a few months, many customers were seeking and ordering Barice. Maja fully devoted herself to entrepreneurship, invested in equipment and machines, and soon applied to the Startaj Hrvatska project, which resulted in Nutty Barice being declared the HIT product of the project's second season and entering the shelves of the first major retail chain. Today, Barice are available on the shelves of numerous chains and specialized stores, and accessible to customers across the country.
